The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced the opening of Expo City Dubai on October 1, 2022.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said that after the historic success of Dubai Expo 2020 Dubai, we will now turn this exhibition space into an expo. Expo City will be an eco-friendly city which will be completely free from plastic. The magic of the 2020 Dubai Expo will continue in this city.

He said that Dubai Expo City would be the hub of economic activities and home of big companies and thousands of new businesses and residents would be welcomed here.
He said that the city is connected to the port and two airports, has a world class expo center and will be the headquarters of fast growing companies. Up to 80% of the infrastructure and buildings constructed in Expo City will be maintained.
In addition to sports and leisure venues, the city will also have a mall that will be accessible via the Dubai Metro. The city will be "car free" and can only be reached on foot.
Expo City Dubai will soon be the new headquarters for startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
